Flying home, Mark, Sonny and the Sun

The last few days have been awesome here. The sun was out all weekend and it was almost 60 degrees on Sunday. Here are some pictures to illustrate, from flying back to Seattle last week to the beach at Deception Pass.

This beautiful photo was taken with my iPhone. It was dreary and awful looking down there.

Mark is moving to Phoenix, Arizona. I say IS because he is currently riding his motorcycle there. On this lovely morning we made brunch and saw him off. Casey took it a little hard and tried to run after him as illustrated in the series below.

But sweet, sweet God. This weather has been amazing. After brunch, Sonny, Casey and I took the ferry across to Whidbey Island.

More pictures soon...

Last Friday

Last Friday, I finished up with work a little early. The weather was awesome so I took the new camera to Gasworks Park, which offers an awesome view of Downtown and the Space Needle. There is also a big grassy hill. It was really beautiful.

February In Seattle?

So apparently winter ends in February here in the Pacific Northwest. Well, not really. But as you folks back East are experiencing right now, this is an odd year for weather. I took a little walk around my neighborhood this morning and took a few pictures (with my new camera) of what is happening. There are trees a-flowering, little crocuses a-budding and robins a-chirping. Yesterday, I walked home from Casey's house at about 6:30 in the morning, the sun was just rising, and I watched a wren poke around in some brush. From what I hear, this isn't normal weather. I will take it though.

As I typed, I bought myself a camera. So now I can take more pictures. Before, I was borrowing Casey's camera when I could. Right now, the Northeast is covered under a thick blanket of ultra-irritating snow and it is a chilly 46 degrees in Florida. It is 41 here and rainy. I am going to spend the rest of my day figuring out how to grow plants in this sun-less apartment and hoping the snow melts.

The photos above are from the last few days. The unusually warm February is causing flowers to bloom. People are worried because that means they are going to die when it gets cold again.

The University District Farmer's Market is pretty great. We get milk there every week and make yogurt with it. Ummmmmm.

When you buy a new camera with a sweet macro function, what do you do? Scotch fueled photo shoot of course!

I don't really have anything to say about this.

I found a recipe for Chocolate Truffles that called for Grand Marnier and heavy cream. I found some local heavy cream at Whole Foods and used Peppermint Schnaps instead. They're gone. I guess they were ok.
